Michael Tilford

Mike brings varied project and entitlement experience to FL&I. Over a 20-year career in real estate development Mike has worked with organizations from Historic Boston Incorporated (a non-profit, tax-credit developer) to Boston Properties (NYSE: BXP), the largest publicly traded developer in the United States. His project experience ranges from the redevelopment of the historic Hayden Building in downtown Boston to ground-up projects in the heart of Kendall Square, including a 480,000 SF headquarters for Akamai Technologies and a 420,000 SF campus building for Google. His entitlement and master planning work has led to the successful rezoning of over 3 million square feet. Mike has also overseen the design, financing and construction of public projects including Riverstone Park in Couer d’Alene, the UP Park in Cambridge, MA, as well as the LINK, a co-working space for tech education non-profits.

Mike holds a BA from Gonzaga University in History, an MBA from Boston University and an MSRED from the MIT Center for Real Estate. He is a 6-year Pan Mass Challenge rider.


Ian Hatch

Ian has placed himself at the intersection of transportation and land use throughout his career. Beginning with Norfolk Southern Railway as a Terminal Trainmaster, he later served Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) as a transportation advisor focused on advocating for regional rail in Massachusetts. Subsequently, Ian joined the development department at Boston Properties (NYSE: BXP) where he rose from Intern to Senior Project Manager over 4 years. During this time Ian steered a successful effort to secure 1.4 million square feet of residential and lab/office development in the Kendall Square neighborhood of Cambridge, MA in exchange for constructing a proposed electrical substation within an underground vault. At FL&I, Ian hopes to realize the transformative possibilities of thoughtful real estate development paired with public infrastructure investment.

Ian is a dedicated advocate for mass transit and housing abundance in the Greater Boston area. He holds a BA from Amherst College in History & Economics as well as an MBA from the University of Chicago.
